I believe it took awhile for the iPod and iTunes lineup to become profitable...

I think Android will become profitable soon, it's an alright platform, the hardware is just horrendous though.

Problem is Google's relying on ads to make money from android. it's VERY HARD to make money that way.

Apple on the other hand makes money off of the hardware sales, apps, music, movies, accessories, etc.
