Apples bto 128gb ssd for mbp

Hi guys, I have worked out the cheapest and easiestsolution for an ssd will be to get it from apple. What I was wanderin was whether it is significantly better than a 7200rpm drive? I don't expect the speeds of intel but I'd be happy if it was atleast much faster than the hdd. My plan would be to upgrade to 256gb once prices are much lower!

would anyone recommend it? as an "iterim" ssd solution? id love the speed of the intel but for £280 i only get the 80gb and this just works out so much better value for money with the apple ssd...

does anyone know about its performance compared to theire 7200rpm? any figures anywhere?
 
yes i have looked at this and had a quote as well as the 120gb version...

but i can get the 128gb ssd from apple for 147 with my discount...this is 130 cheaper than the 120gb OCZ... hence my thoughts.. particulalry since id rather have bigger.. but im expecting in a year or 2 for ssds to be much cheaper...?
 
Go with the HDD, not the SSD. Intel is reportedly planning to introduce larger SSDs soon for much cheaper prices, not to mention that SSDs constantly get larger and cheaper as time goes on. If you absolutely need it now, get it, otherwise don't bother.

yes I have read this too.. but as they will be new- they will no doubt be much cheaper in a yr or so...

are u saying i wouldnt notice a performance increase with apples SSD?
 
Does anyone know how Apple's 128 GB SSD compares to the 256 SSD?
And are they all the same SSD's that are offered for the 13'' 15'' and 17''?

I've read in some posts that the 256 SSD got updated.

yes i too would also love to see infromation on what apple are currently shipping as 128gb ssd...
 
I keep reading that Intel "is coming out with new ones soon" week after week. Does anyone have any idea about a concrete date? Never seems to happen.
 
I also keep hearing how slow Apple's SSD is compared to the X-25M.

I just wonder if anyone has done a benchmark with Apples 128GB SSD on a 17 inch MBP. I've been looking everywhere but no luck. =\

I have the apple 128 gb ssd in a 17" mid 09 mbp.

If you need any benchmarks doing let me know...
 
Do you use any programs for photo-editing/graphic design?
And if so, how does the SSD perform in those apps?
