One more last-minute leak before the Apple event begins: potential color options for Apple's rumored Crossbody Strap accessory for the iPhone 17 series.

The account "Uncle Pan" on Chinese platform Weibo today shared an image that suggests the Crossbody Strap will be available in up to 10 color options.

There have been multiple rumors about the Crossbody Strap, which would be a magnetic lanyard that can attach to Apple's own iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Pro cases. The lanyard would let you "wear" your iPhone around your neck, which is an increasingly popular trend due to the rise of smartphone pickpocketing in major cities.

Uncle Pan has shared some accurate information about Apple accessories in the past.

We will find out if these colors are legitimate in just minutes from now. Watch this space.

How is a magnetic lanyard a less easy to steal than a pocketed phone?

And how strong is that magnet to not drop the phone?
Apple hasn’t said it’s for anti theft purposes so let’s see how they market it - probably just a fashion / convenience accessory.

Come on @Joe Rossignol ... time's running out for the real last minute/final final rumor... :D

Any thief can just snap it off as it’s magnetic so what’s the point, it can’t hold it that hard
The article just says that the lanyard carry method is popular because of pickpocketing. I think this will be an example of Apple trying to capitalize on form rather than function.

but its not even safe for the iPhone it can snap off and fall on the floor, the whole idea of the lanyard is to have it secure, magnets dont do that

Anyone I see wearing one of these will instantly get a chuckle from me lol I just traveled to Europe and did not see a single person wearing their phone around their neck. I know the article said china, but I would have expected to see it in Europe too if it were true.

How loose are people’s pant pockets? I know women tend to put theirs in the back pocket since their front pockets are essentially useless, but everyone else not wearing pants like that should have no excuse. You would have to essentially SA me to grab my phone out of my front pockets.

Rather have it in my pocket than swinging freely to be grabbed by a passerby on a vespa (this is the big way purses are stolen in Italy, the back passenger on the Vespa hooks their arm inside the purse strap (lanyard) and yanks it off the pedestrian owner ... the I just don't get the inspiration for the item except, just because, or because Apple hopes folks won't stuff it in their back pocket and sit on it.

"The lanyard would let you "wear" your iPhone around your neck". Oh boy!!!!! I can only imagine robbers ripping phones from people's necks in London.
several years ago, I was in London(just a few hundred feet from my Hyde Park hotel). I had my work phone, Samsung Galaxy S20, with me. A young woman who had a Hungarian or Romanian accent demanded to have my phone. Her companion, a bulky guy over 6-foot-6 tall, stood behind me. I gave her my phone and she threw it back at me. She said(again, in Romanian accent): "where iPhone, we want your iPhone, Americans all have iPhones, yes?" When I told her that I didn't have iPhones, they walked away and spit at me. I picked up the cracked Galaxy S20 and ran in the other direction. Despite what I thought of them, at least they had good taste? Smart muggers always demand nothing but the best and that's the iPhone! (by the way, my iPhone was in my hotel room at the InterContinental)
