If I order iPhone 5s only now and opt for this expedited shipping fee, will they really expedite the shipping? Has anybody ordered after the weekend launch and got a shipping confirmation right away?

Apple's Expedited shipping fee useless?

I think the expedited shipping only applies when your item has left their warehouse. Meaning if you order now and the item ships on October 1, 2013, then the expedited shipping starts on October 1st so that it will be 2-3 business days from October 1, 2013. Otherwise, it will be much longer than that.

I paid the fee and then got it refunded because they are shipping all the phones on expedited basis so it was a waste of money. My phone was supposed to be delivered tomorrow but is on truck for delivery today. My friends who didn't pay for expedited shipping are getting theirs today too
I don't know how much longer. Perhaps somebody can comment about this. Unfortunately for me, my shipping was pushed to "October" which really sucks. I guess I'll just have to wait.
It's useless ... complete waste of money AND expectations.

Ironically, my TMOBILE is arriving today (via std shipping). And my ATT ("expedited") arrives tomorrow.

My story is that I ordered my phone online at att. com just after midnight on Sep 20th. I DIDN'T select "overnight". When the dust settled, I receive an email saying I could expect my new IP between Oct 21-Oct31.
Later, on Saturday (about a day and a half after ordering), I received an email saying my phone had left the warehouse in Ft Worth and I could expect it to arrive by Monday no later than 8PM.
The phone DID arrive around noon on Monday. Don't know if I had selected "overnight" if I would have received the phone on Sunday or not. I think I received expedited shipping, but whatever it was, it was free. Overnight would have been around $15 more.
I paid for 2-3 day, then Apple.com waived the fee due to long hold times on launch day.
My phone was supposed to be delivered tomorrow (the 26th), but UPS changed the delivery date to the 25th (today).
I believe there are a couple who selected Standard Shipping, and they won't be receiving their phones until tomorrow.

Definitely not. None of the shipping carriers deliver on Sunday. Only way would've been by direct courier, but that costs way more than $15.
I opted to stick with standard shipping but since our shipping estimates to Canada were much longer (8-11 Oct which was then pushed back to 10-16 Oct a couple of days later), I decided to call them and ask for free expedited shipping...which they gladly did. That, and a change of shipping address to my work and now I'm looking at 4-9 Oct instead.
