Apple today indicated that its extended return policy is now in effect for the 2023 holiday shopping season. The policy applies to most products that Apple sells, including the iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch, accessories, and more.

In the U.S., Canada, U.K., Australia, New Zealand, Germany, France, the Netherlands, Singapore, and many other countries, most products purchased between November 3 and December 25 of this year may be returned through January 8, 2024, according to Apple's website. All purchases made after December 25 are subject to Apple's standard 14-day return policy.

In some countries, the return window is slightly longer. In Italy, Spain, Turkey, Mexico, and Japan, Apple says most products purchased between November 3, 2023 and January 6, 2024 may be returned through January 20, 2024.

Apple has also updated its online "Store" page with gift recommendations for the holidays.

In other words, we get up to 67 days to test out Apple products. 👍

Perfect opportunity for those wondering if they should upgrade from their M1 Mac to an M3 Mac? 🤷‍♂️

The Apple article from the link you include actually says products "received", not "purchased" in that date range. Significant for those who ordered right after Scary Night.

I always wonder if this is the time they get all the stock for their refurbished store? Once someone returns a product is that where it's destined?

I can imagine a lot of people taking advantage of this to just demo some products.

I have to say this is one of the best Apple features out there. If you have a risky buy do it now 🤣

(saved my ass on a butterfly keyboard MBP ages go that did)

"Eligible products at the Apple Store Online that are received between November 3, 2023 and December 25, 2023.."

Even if you bought a M3 Mac the day after the Scary Fast keynote, you'll still be covered under the holiday returns since it doesn't ship until next week

ah ok. good to know.

Noice, bought a homepod and airpods pro today. If Apple does their black friday gift card deal, I can go and return/rebuy later this month lol

This also confirms that we won't get any new hardware (i.e. accessories) in this period (else wise Apple would be flooded with folks wanting to exchange their 'old' product for a newer version).

Returns can be extremely bad, environmentally. A purchase from Apple is usually a big thing/expense. Think about it before buying.

The waste from easy/free returns is horrendous.

Big thing/expense is a good thing here. Returned fast fashion is dumped in a landfill. A returned MacBook Pro will be refurbished and sold to someone else.

I agree, that is true and refurbished units are also great deals. However the return process involves a lot of transportation ( person taking back to store etc, Apple maybe transporting it to another site etc) new packaging, testing etc.

Its just best to avoid it as much as possible. I haven't returned anything to Apple in a long time indeed. Careful consideration and sleeping on a decision are always good things. FOMO is the worst.

It’s one thing to have policy in place. It’s the other that store staff has no idea and insist on standard return policy even if you do return within Apple’s officially announced year end return policy but outside of 14 day period.

Happened to me once and was a horrible experience to argue.

Simply direct them to the website, or ask to speak with a manager, Karen style. No problem, no need to get worked up, let them suffer for their ignorance, not you.

That is a good question; I returned my AirPods Pro 2 to the Apple Store in Glasgow and forgot to turn off the FindMy and they went from the Scotland to China! Can only assume that they're cleaned up, repackaged and re-shelved!
