Apple is expanding its long-running "Shot on iPhone" marketing campaign with a new series of "On Tour" videos and billboard ads featuring 16 musicians and bands from around the world, according to Adweek.

As part of the campaign, Apple has shared three new videos that provide an up-close and behind-the-scenes look at concerts hosted by rock band Florence and the Machine, singer FKA twigs, and jazz saxophonist Kamasi Washington. The mini documentaries were shot by iPhone users, some with the help of "additional hardware and software."

In addition to YouTube, the videos will be available on Apple Music and IGTV.

Musicians and bands featured in the campaign include FKA twigs, Chai, Kacey Musgraves, Kamasi Washington, Florence and the Machine, Idles, Lizzo, Travis Scott, Tierra Whack, Leon Bridges, Skrillex, Sebastian Yatra, Jay de la Cueva, Gaye Su Akyol, Little Big, and Tyler, the Creator, according to Adweek.

Big fans of all three, seen them all live except for Twigs. No way I'm going to be able to shoot a video of that quality on the iPhone though lol

Are Apple pinching sales from professional camera manufacturers? If not, aren’t they just selling phones to people who take lots of phots of their mugs and their dinners?

Seriously! That really is the key. The iPhone ,by itself, doesn't take photos or videos anywhere near the quality shown in these promos.

It's much more about the skill of the director, camera operator, and subsequent editing.

EDIT: And a good sound person...

All you negative people relax for a minute and consider, a phone in your pocket still captured this great footage. Think back to the the '90s when our phones had 10 preset numbers and we were impressed. These campaigns just celebrate how far we have come. Enjoy your device in your pocket!

"Additional hardware and software used" - same as their 3D modeling/rendering videos to promote iMac Pro.

Love it!! I don’t care if there was additional software/hardware involved - this is great. Enjoy the creativity!

It is not "amazing quality with a phone," it's amazing quality with a phone using the type of rig shown in post #5 plus professional video editing software - accessories and skills not available to the average iPhone user. You could get similar results using other phones or point and shoot cameras, so it's misleading or at best lacking full disclosure to simply say "shot on iPhone."

As the old saying goes, Apple is a vertically-integrated marketing company.

iPhone ain't selling so time to polish up the iPhone advertising.

(Heaven forbid they invent something revolutionary the way Steve used to do. Just do more marketing for the existing portfolio! It will guarantee that The Accountant gets his annual bonuses!)

This is why I think they should #FIRETHEACCOUNTANT.
