Today we're tracking notable discounts on the previous generation M3 MacBook Pro at Amazon and Best Buy, with as much as $700 off select computers. Regarding the Best Buy discounts, you won't need to have a My Best Buy membership in order to see the discounts for these sales.

The highlight of the sale is on the 14-inch M3 MacBook Pro (16GB RAM/1TB) for $1,399.00, down from $1,999.00. This one is available at both Amazon and Best Buy, and it's a new all-time low price on the computer.

Well, there’s no reason to buy an M3 MacBook Air for a while.
Except if the discount is great? Not everyone needs the M4 chip, and if you could get an M3 Air for $500 less than an M4 and it fits your needs, I'm buying the cheaper one.

Perhaps when that happens, yes. But, as of right now, you cannot buy an M3 Air for $500 less than the lowest price that the M3 MacBook Pro is being offered for. BTW, we’re not talking about the M4. The M3 Pros are the subject of this article.

M3 Pro, 512GB - $1,599.00, down from $1,999.00 [matched at Amazon]
I would've thought this would be less than $1,599.00 following the M4 Pro MacBook Pro release. These were $1,499.00 during the summer and not long after the M3 Pro MacBook Pro got released, the M2 Pro MacBook Pro's were being clearanced out for $1,399.00 or less.

The 16gb base upgrade really screwed the retailers. I’m surprised Apple didn’t give them a heads up to move the old inventory out. I don’t think we’ll see BF deals on M4s as a result either.

I expect we'll see sales get more aggressive heading into Black Friday on M3 models to clear out inventory. Especially considering the RAM bomb on the M4 models that will offer more downward pressure on the M3 models.

Actually on second thought I don't think these deals are all that great. If you are in the market for a bigger discount I think it's better to wait until they are really feeling the pressure to clear old stock out. 8GB RAM on a new, expensive computer isn't a good idea for most at this point.

If you take a look at that 16GB/1TB model I think you are better suited at getting the newer model with the 512GB base and insert an SD card with the BaseQI adapter if you feel like you need extra storage.

M1, M2, M3 all have hardware based security issues that software can’t fix. If you’re getting a huge discount, there is a reason why it’s cheap (because it’s fundamentally broken/flawed). You get what you pay for. M4 chips don’t have those problems. There is a reason Apple hurried the M4 chips not long after the M3s came out… 😉

OR, the discounts happen every year after every release and it isn't some grand conspiracy? Not saying you're wrong, but at least post a source.

Thanks for this! Still doesn't sound like these deals are anything other than normal deals we see every year. What's the excuse for discounts on M4 machines if they have no vulnerability?
If you have a deal on an M4 machine, it will likely hold up better in the long run. Probably will maintain its value better as well. 😉

Nice deals for sure, but most likely I will still opt for the M4 or M4 Pro 16GB (or 24GB)/1TB. Do I need the extra speed, no, but the upgraded architecture, camera, battery life and more 'futureproofness' is worth the extra $300 or less if I can find a deal.

weird. the 16.2", M3 pro models with 1TB SSD are not discounted anywhere. I would have expected them to be less popular, at least the models with only 18GB ram. If they were down by $500 or $600 like the other models then they might be interesting.

For those looking at the 8GB RAM models consider that the retailers got screwed with the recent mac refresh. Sellers will have to get aggressive new OR used across the board in the coming weeks.

All things considered I would not pay anywhere near $1,000 for an 8GB mac.

Agreed. 8GB would need extreme discounts.

The aggressive speed that Apple moved the whole lineup to 16GB means there can be features in macOS 16 that won’t be supported on 8GB machines.
