This would seem to bode well for future iOS versions (via Engadget):

Rich Dellinger might not be a name you instantly recognize, but he is the dude credited with bringing about the unintrusive banner notification system that forms part of webOS' widespread appeal. And, as of today, he's also in the employ of one Steve Jobs. The new Senior UI Designer at Apple, Inc looks to have made his way through Palm's exit doors in the immediate aftermath of the HP takeover announcement

Definitely good news. The iPhone's UI does need to be reworked as it fails to be flexible enough for the current demands, like multitasking. Double pressing the home button so the task manager rises up, is a bit kludgey for apple to bolt onto the UI like that.

Perhaps in future versions of iOS, we'll see some alterations that are more inline with apple's obsessive approach to ease of use and making it look well.
