Deep Fusion / Photonic engine sucks and is making images look worse than they should.

I wish Apple would allow us to disable it or remove it altogether. When flicking through your photos you sometimes get a second to see what it really looked like before the processing kick's in and the images look great; but Apple then obliterates them with over sharpening, aggressive noise reduction and bad HDR.

Such a waste of good hardware and costing Apple many sales from those who buy phones primarily for the camera.

Here's a great example from someone over on reddit. The girl is almost unrecognisable from her true self.

Without details, these are just cherry picked images that don't tell much. Which lens was used for each? How much zooming and cropping? Lighting conditions? Post-process editing? Raw vs. jpeg?
