Apple's summer and winter break promotion

i seem to remember Apple giving promotion to students and educators during summer and winter breaks. something like free iPod touch with purchase of Apple computer.

my question is, is this promotion a norm? will Apple give out free iPod this winter? i WANT a macbook pro (last gen), but i don't NEED one right now, so if waiting another month or two means a free iPod, then i don't mind the wait. can someone share some insight on the pattern of Apple's free iPod promotion?
