The new 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models announced today are available in a new Space Black finish when configured with M3 Pro or M3 Max chips. Accordingly, Apple has released its USB-C to MagSafe 3 cable in Space Black for $49.

Apple already includes a color-matched MagSafe 3 charging cable in the box with the new MacBook Pro models, but the cable can be ordered individually from Apple's online store for those who want an extra one or need a replacement. The cable also remains available in Space Gray, Midnight, Starlight, and Silver.

The cable is also compatible with 13-inch and 15-inch MacBook Air models with the M2 chip.

MagSafe technology allows the cable to magnetically attach to a MacBook. If someone trips on the cable, it releases so that the MacBook does not go tumbling. The cable is two meters long and features a woven design for added durability.

Never used MagSafe 3 because another cable to carry that can’t be used for anything else compared to usb-c and can’t fast charge. Wish they found a way to make usb-c MagSafe.

My 14" M2 Pro fast charges with my 96 watt charger via MagSafe

I got confused by the pic in the article and it's the same on Apple's website - do they now have the MagSafe at the bottom left near the palm rest or perhaps they flipped the Apple logo like on the iBooks from once upon a time??

Note that the base 14" M3 MBPro has only two USB-C ports. the third one by the HDMI port is not there. It is there on the the more expensive models.

And they're somehow nerfed "Thunderbolt / USB 4 (USB-C) ports" instead of TB4 ports on the other 14" models. I suppose no connecting to a TB4 dock with multi-monitor support.

So it's really more like the M1/M2 13" MBP.

That was just a photo opp. Images on the website show it where it's always been.

There are tons of magnetic USB-C adapters on the market. Amazon was flooded with them when Apple discontinued MagSafe previously. Now they are an enduring accessory.

Not only does it fast charge just fine, it’s the only way to charge a 16“ MBP at 140W. USB-C charging is limited to 100W.
