This isn't specific to iOS 26, but I've started to realize Apple likes to put "Recent" lists everywhere. The more I look at them, the more they don't make sense to me. At least in my case, they seem to be an "everything you worked with" list rather than a "things you've worked with recently" list...
- "Recents" in Files and Preview (and Finder in macOS)
- I have files showing up in here from months, if not years ago. They aren't recent anymore and I have no need for them to keep showing up here.
- Just looking at a file will throw it at the top of this list and clutter it up. It can be a bit problematic if you're just looking around and opening multiple files to find something.
- "Recently Added" in the App Library
- This is useful when you download a new app and have it set to only go into your App Library. You can easily find it here to drag it to your home screen if needed. But how useful is it after a week or a month?
- Apps downloaded months/years ago, still show up here. It takes up space. I don't need to see the app I downloaded three months ago when it's already visible in another category, like Social or Entertainment.
- If you have to uninstall and reinstall an app, it puts it back at the top of the list in Recently Added, pushing everything else down.
- "Recently Added" in Music
- Again, same as above. Things added months or years ago stay in this list.
- I was having some trouble with my Library, where I needed to remove some albums/songs and re-add them. Now they're back at the top in Recently Added. The others that I did discover recently are pushed down and harder to find now.
- "Recent Days", "Recently Saved", "Recently Edited", and "Recently Viewed" in Photos
- These basically go back to the beginning of time as well. I just want to see the stuff that are actually recent.
