References to a mysterious "Apple Watch Victory" have shown up on Apple's website in the United Arab Emirates, hinting at an alternate name the company may have considered for the Apple Watch Nike+.

An AppleCare+ support page for the United Arab Emirates, shared by 9to5Mac, mentions AppleCare+ options for the "Apple Watch" and "Apple Watch Victory," a product that does not exist.

On a similar page for Canada, the "Apple Watch" and the "Apple Watch Nike+" are listed in the same text, suggesting Apple perhaps planned to call the Apple Watch Nike+ the Apple Watch Victory at some point before changing the name to something more brand oriented.

It's possible "Apple Watch Victory" is an unreleased product, a scrapped product or an alternate name for a different version of the Apple Watch, but given the evidence of the two similar AppleCare+ pages, it seems most likely "Apple Watch Victory" was a code name or an alternate name considered for the Apple Watch Apple designed in collaboration with Nike.

Apple's AppleCare+ support page for the Apple Watch in the United States is worded differently, referring only to the Apple Watch without a mention of specific models in the section in question.

While inconsequential, it's always interesting to get an inside look at the changes that a product goes through before release and a glimpse at one of the names that Apple used as a code name or considered using for the Apple Watch Nike line.

The Apple Watch Nike+, which is an Apple Watch Sport model with Nike branding, Nike software, and a unique perforated Sport Band, officially launches on Friday, October 28. 38mm models are priced at $369 and 42mm models are priced at $399.

Update: The "Apple Watch Victory" mention has been removed from Apple's website.

Apple going through identity crisis
Tim: "who am I?" (Mad world theme)

Phil: "it's okay, Tim. We lost our ways...let's just....think about happiest time with Steve jobs."

Eddie: "uh.....sounds good."

I actually prefer the non Nike branding. Get rid of Beats. Get rid of Nike. Stick with Apple.

Magical, courage, and now victory. What are some other good "Apple" words? We need to come up with a whole urbandictionary for this

Should have a future model called the Apple Watch Courage

Apple Watch #winning. Phil Schiller doesn't have courage for that.

Poor Phil and his courage statement. He doesn't deserve the negative response that he's gotten.

One year from now, and all of the crying people did over the ancient headphone jack will look even more amusing than it does today. Look how far technology has advanced.. in just the past 30 years... and the universe is billions of years old. Imagine if people cried over the switch from vacuum tubes to transistors. Sure, in the audio space, vacuum tubes are said to have a "warmer, more natural" sound, and I don't disagree with that, but holding onto such a beastly technology would have held us back by decades. We wouldn't be sitting here enjoying what we are enjoying now.

Victory for Apple in their pursuit of progress. Victory for us.

Guten nacht, herr Tim.

Perhaps the "victory" name is wishful thinking? I mean they're only the #2 watch company in the world, and if you're not first you're last! Take the crown!

It makes sense Apple could have possibly considered this as a specific Apple Watch name.

Courage, victory...

New Apple Watch ad , featuring chariots of Fire song....

Herd of nerds running down a beach with Apple watches and Nike shoes ....

Nike is the Greek goddess of victory. So I'd guess that it was just a translation error.

This.

It's probably just like with the rumors years ago of an "iPhone Math" model, which was a mistranslation of "iPhone Plus".

(Unless there's some kind of local cultural dislike of Greek names, in which case Victory would still make sense as an alternative for Nike.)

Besides the Greek goddess reference, there's also the Martian "Victory" smartwatch, which has been around for years. Likely prevents the use of the name by others in sales.

I just took a look.

From WatchOS 3 files:

Apple Watch Victory = Apple Watch Nike + (victoryNTK-digital-logo@2x.png is Nike + logo)
Apple Watch Zeus = Apple Watch Hermès (ZeusLogo1@2x.png, Hermès logo)

Both in NanoTimeKit framework.

Seems that they like Greek gods :)

It just seems wrong when you include the comma or period inside the quote, instead of outside/after it, what were they thinking when they allowed this.

I'm not being negative towards Phil

But its OK that they stick with the Hermes branding, right?
