macOS AppleScript and using Record

From what I understand from reading, the record button in AppleScript on OSX only works for Finder?? I tried using it in Address Book and iTunes, and I got nothing, so I searched on this issue and found that actually it didn't even support Finder until recently.

If this is true, Apple isn't really supporting AS, right?

The Record button has really been the neglected stepchild of AS. I believe TextWrangler is recordable, Tex-Edit Plus (no relation to TextEdit) is as well. Maybe it's worth us all hitting Mac OS Feedback ... and demanding it.
