Hoping someone here can help out with an AppleTV 4K error I'm getting.

My parents had the original 4K AppleTV and loved it minus the remote - so I decided for Christmas to buy them the new 2021 version and get them the new remote.

The TV turns off fine but the next morning is unresponsive. Once the TV turns on manually, the trackpad works but the buttons do not. I see here that similar issues were had while using a soundbar - they do use one, but only through IR so nothing there should be blocking the signal. Any ideas as to what could be causing the CEC to not work?

Is their ATV 4K connected to the HDMI-CEC port on the TV, or to just a regular HDMI port?

One thing I’ve noticed about my ATV 4K 2017 and the new remote (2021) is that to turn on/off the system rquires a long press of a second or more on the Power button. A quick press doesn't work to turn on the TV and soundbar, but it will turn on the ATV 4K's power light. So be sure they hold the button down until they see the equipment actually come on.

Another thing i've noticed with the 2021 remote is that it sometimes doesn't work at first. Sometimes I have to toggle the system off then back on. Also, if the remote's charge level drops too low it will start to act up, so check the charged level every once in a while.

I think there are bugs with the FW for the remote and probably with tvOS as well. So that might be complicating things.
