Since the earphones have the same chip as the Airpods, this should technically work the same, yes? I'm having some issues connecting them.

yes. these will work the same way. Although I always had problems getting them to come up on my list of audio devices. Had to manually pair each time after using them on another device
That's the same issue I have. From my understanding, because of the W1, they should just come up as an airplay option. My HomePods both do. The Beats don't.
