AppleTV at Costco - $289

Here in the Fountain Valley Costco store in Southern CA.
I'm tempted but alas, I don't have the right TV for it.

The AppleTV is $281 at the online Apple Store for corporate employee purchase plan, but I got mine for $275.05 at my local Apple Store showing my employee ID. It was very easy to get my employer (an HMO) signed up for this program & it saves on Apple & third-party hardware & software.
I wonder if the 
TV display materials will be good enough to explain to people what the gadget is.

Doubtful unless apple gets way better at explaining what the
tv is, I think I've had to explain to about five different people what the box is and how it works, even after they went to apple's website on it.

First you need the contact for your company's employee "perks" program. It wasn't easy to find the contact at Apple. I called the general Apple number & worked my way through the voice mail maze to a corporate program contact. I'll have to see if I can find the e-mail of the Apple person I contacted when I get home from work today.
I did check the online Apple education store & there was no discount. I guess they figure an AppleTV doesn't help with studying!
i don't think Sammy Walton will be too fond of selling items that will eat into Walmart movie sales.
Same here. I've got 5 costco's within 10 miles, and 9 within 15 (including several "specialty" costcos). As this includes the headquarters, and flagship store, I'm sure one of them must carry it.
I don't think I should give out the e-mail of the person I contacted. I'm not even sure he's still with Apple or in that department since it's been a year & a half, but his signature helps narrow down the department you need. He is with the Apple Store for Business, so you could try the main 1-800-MY-APPLE number & try navigating like I did. I also found a couple of other possible numbers that may be more direct - 1-800-409-5381 or 1-800-854-3680.

Yes it is. I think regular memberships cost from $50 to $100. So you need to buy enough "stuff" there to save at least that much per year.
I just gave him the name & contact info for my company's "perks" program. I haven't had to do anything since. It took less than 2 weeks before it was set up. For us, a PDF of a flyer from Apple is posted on our intranet with the URL for the online Apple Store for us.
The discount varies. Most Apple hardware has a slightly bigger discount through the education store, but not all. As I said before, the AppleTV is discounted for the EPP but isn't for education. Apple software is the same, although family packs & pro apps aren't always available to education customers, so the EPP is better. I can't remember if it's Apple hardware or software, but you can't get a discount in person on one or the other in an Apple Store, but with the EPP it's all discounted. Third-party hardware & software has a 4% discount in the Apple Store.
What's cool about this is the fact that you have a life time warranty on anything that you buy from Costco. If something electronic breaks they will replace it free of charge. I think my membership cost $40/ year which includes two cards.
