Hello everyone, I have a problem with my Apple TV4k. I can't update to tvOS14, currently tvOS 13.4 (17L256) is installed. When I want to update I get a message that the Apple TV is up to date. I've already tried it with Beta Profile, but nothing worked. Resetting and updating are also unsuccessful and abort with the message that the update cannot currently be loaded. I also changed the DNS once which was unsuccessful. Internet connection is available. I have a free developer account and connection works via Xcode. Has or has who ever had such a problem?

Grettings to all
Shelly

The only reason this would happen for me is if I blocked these domains at the router:

softwareupdate.apple.com

mesu.apple.com

appldnld.apple.com

I block all those to stop updates (long story) but I'd check your router settings to be sure they're not blocked for some reason. With them blocked you'll either get a false 'your Apple TV is up to date' or 'Error checking for update'

Hello nickdalzell1, thank you for your hint, I put the ATV in the DMZ on the router, unfortunately that was not successful either. I also connected the Apple TV via a hotspot to my iPhone and that of my friend and then triggered the update there, which did not work both times. Apparently it has nothing to do with ports or DNS or other network settings. It is simply not possible to install tvOS14 even when I installed a BETA profile and then went to update I got the message that the ATV is up to date.

Mine is now having this issue:

"Cannot connect to app store"

Whenever I select any app in my purchased list, whether it's installed or not. I can open the TV app store, but nothing will download or update. I've verified my router blocks are disabled and same issue. Rebooting router, rebooting Apple TV, no dice. Must be a server-side bug. I'm also randomly experiencing buffering issues which has never happened before. I'm on a Apple TV 4K 32 GB running tvOS 14.0.2.

Resolving the buffering involves either yanking the plug and hard-resetting the ATV or tweaking with the HDMI cable coming out of it. Not sure if it's server related or HDCP handshaking problems here.

Try turning off the option for getting Beta updates in Settings - System - Software Update, then try to do a software update.

Being that you are a developer, have you tried installing the tvOS beta for 14 over the air?

Yeah, not an official source for how to do it but then I don't have developer access.

Other than that, I'd say contact Apple TV Support.

hello everyone, yesterday I had an appointment at apple store. The technicians couldn't install tvOS on my apple tv either and didn't know a solution, so the apple tv was replaced. Just wanted to inform you, thank you very much for your suggestions.
