Hi all,

I bought a appletv1 off eBay because wanted one with a hardrive instead of leaving the iMac on for the kids to stream films

Iv'e had it back and when it loads up it goes stright to XBMC. no apple screen at all. They did say it came with XBMC. but i don't want this any idea how to restore it please?

Many thanks for your time.

My guess is its running linux xbmc which you can tell if when it boots up you see a bunch of command line stuff run across the screen along with a penguin logo. If that is the case, you would need to have all three stock appletv images and re-image your drive with something like atvcloner or do it via the terminal.

Hopefully the restore partition was left in tact. Hold down the menu and minus button for several seconds. If the recovery partition is there you should get a diag menu that permits you to do a factory restore.
