I know I must be the last person on earth to still use AppleWorks  but I've gotten used to it and I'd rather not use Office. Anyway, an annoying problem is that the "Open Recent" submenu under the File menu keeps a copy of every document I've opened, rather than the most recent; it sets a limit (20 or so) on the number of files, however, with the net effect that I only see files that start with A through D (the top files alphabetically). Any way to fix this?

In Appleworks preferences, under Topic: Files, what's entered in the "Remember the ___ opened documents" field?

It doesn't matter what I put in that preferences panel - I've tried putting 10, 40, etc. If I put 10, there are only files that begin with the letter A. I've even tried emptying the folder that contains aliases for the recently used files; somehow, it seems to remember them and put them back.

Ugh. Any clues?
