Application Display Calibrator quits

[S-Harkey]

Hi- I'm really not a very computer savvy person, so if you have any advice please explain it very carefully

I recently got a Wacom Cintiq and I wanted to calibrate the tablet to match my MacBook Pro monitor. However, whenever I launch the Display Calibrator application, it quits out and tells me to relaunch right after I hit "Continue" on the "Admin" step.

Is there a way for me to fix this? If not, can anyone suggest a free/cheap program that I can download that would be similar and would allow me to more closely match my monitors? Thanks

Possible FIX Apple Display Calibrator.app crashing

Hey Guys, I have had the same issue and after digging deep i may have found a simple solution. Locate your Display Calibrator.app and do a get info. Once there make sure the general info box is expanded. You should see a bow for OPEN USING ROSETTA. Check that box and restart the app. It fixed mine and i am back in business.

I can get to the Get Info, but the Open using Rosetta box is grayed out, as is all the other checkboxes. Why is that? I'm using an administrator account.

I'm having the same problem and don't have the option to use Rosetta either.

So far no solution. I tried repairing disk permissions, repairing colorsync profiles and removing all colorsync profiles other than the display manufacturer profile for the monitor I'm using (calibrator won't let you even start calibration without the man. profile).

I can switch between existing display profiles but can't create a new one because it crashes just before it asks for a name and saves the profile.

There is an Apple discussion thread with the Rosetta method mentioned above, but it was archived so you can't post on it any longer.

Okay, I found a workaround. If I log in to the computer as a different user, I can create a new display calibration profile.

The trick is to select advanced mode when you start the calibration and at the end check the box to allow other users to use this profile. Then when you log in with your normal user account, the profile you just created will be in your display profile list.

I'd still like to really fix the problem, though, so I could create a new profile in my normal user account, so if anyone has suggestions, please post here.

Thanks for the tip, maurilax. Maybe that will help someone else having trouble.

My problem seemed to fix itself automatically, perhaps when I did a system update. I'm using 10.6.8, now, so maybe it's something Apple took care of in that release.
