Any one who knows an application that can use GPU acceleration for playback of MKV, MP4 and so on in x.264 codecs?

Like Windows Media Player Classic Home Cinema for windows, where i use like 10% max CPU when playing 1080p material

I think this is something that Apple would have to implement this within OSX or at least Quicktime or something. So for now, I don't think there is something like this.

Please, correct me anyone if I am wrong (not that I care much, as I have a GMA950, so GPU acceleration wont help ME that much :()

good question... still looking but not having any luck... watching this one as well cause i am interested

Seems that maybe CorePlayer for OSX can do this. However they offer no trial, so i havent tryed it out yet.
