Application for checking yahoo email

What's a good application for checking my yahoo e-mail without visiting and signing into their website? Perhaps there is a widget?

When I try to set up a POP account using 'Mail' it stays on 'Checking connection to POP server 'mail.yahoo.com' indefinitely

AFAIK, unless you've paid for Yahoo Plus, you can only use the web app.

Subscription to Yahoo! Mail Plus Service: You must subscribe to the Yahoo! Mail Plus service for POP access through your email client.

And also from their site:

The ability to access Yahoo! Mail via a POP3 email client (such as Outlook or Outlook Express) is only available to customers of our premium Yahoo! Mail Plus service.

Nope. I DON'T have Mail Plus, or a business account. It's a standard Yahoo! account.

How did you set it up then?

i set up mine with pop with no problem at all, just a standard yahoo account

and it works fine.
