Whenever I add an application to my Applications folder, it first shows up as a Cancel sign. If I drag it to the desktop and put it back in, it fixes. Just curious if anyone knows why this is?

Thanks,
Devin.

It's a reminder that it's a newly-installed app, similar to the warning window that pops up when you first launch an app you installed from the web. It will also be fixed if you restart the Dock, log out and back in, reboot, or drag the Applications folder off your Dock and add it back.

It's not a reminder of anything. It's a bug that they haven't bothered to fix. What happens is the Dock tries to read the icon before the application has finished copying, so it can't find the icon. To avoid this problem when installing a new application, drag it to the desktop first to make a complete copy, then drag it to the Applications folder.
