It's probably glaringly obvious but how do I get an application to span both monitors? As of now it stops right at the edge of the monitor and when I drag the application to the second monitor it cuts half the application off.

Thanks for any help.
 
system preferences - mission control - uncheck displays have seperate spaces.

Unfortunately unchecking this option may affect some functions of the new multiple displays in mavericks. I'm not sure what at the moment because I haven't time to test.

Argh. That's what I was afraid of, I like the new features too much to turn that on.
 
Its not permanent so should be easy for you to change back if you decide it makes some other feature untenable.
