Hi, I've had my macbook for about a year but ever since the most recent osx combined update, applications on my macbook crash continually. Safari maybe once every 5 minutes, Firefox less so. The more demanding the program, the more frequent the crashes become. Mac os itself actually crashes fairly often too.

I'm running Mac OS X 10.5.8. I upgraded both my ram and hard drive personally when I got my laptop, but i've never had problems before the update and both sets of hardware were compatible. (i forget the technical spec).

Could someone help?

that appeared to work for a bit, but they still crash (although it took longer than usual after I did the permissions). My HD makes quite a lot of noise when i'm opening up demanding applications. not sure if its normal.

What kind of Mac do you have? Have you reinstalled the applications?

I have an intel macbook (MacBook 4,1)

Have you tried removing the troubled applications and then reinstalling them?

I don't know about that, this happens to quite a lot of applications. I tried reinstalling one of the big offenders (football manager 2008), and this did nothing to resolve the problem. This didn't work with safari either. I'm just wondering if I could upload error reports that someone could make sense of or something?
