I'm currently running a macbook with leopard.
Last night I must have kicked out my cord while my computer was on. Normally it will go into sleep mode to conserve battery power, but this time it didn't and completely drained the battery.
Because my charger is finicky, I ended up accidentally shutting down my computer several times fiddling with the cord to try to get it to charge. I've since learned to do that while the computer is off (The stupid orange light hardly ever appears telling me it's charging so I have to fiddle with the cord and reinsert it a bunch of times).
The battery STILL wouldn't charge and at 0% battery I didn't have a lot of options, so I tried to do a software update. I left the computer alone for nearly an hour and it still had barely updated anything. While moving it, the cord came out and the computer turned off in the middle of updating.
I managed to get it to charge 1%, and after fiddling with the cord got it to hold some more charge.
After resetting it, I noticed a new little symbol at the top of my screen by the clock, battery etc. It was telling me that Time Machine's latest backup had failed, but I've never even used to program. Every time I tried to open it to cancel time machine, it would say (error code -43). Trying to update my software crashes, and finally, Disk Utility crashes. I can't get any of those things to run and I'm starting to panic because this is the only computer I have. I'm tired of having to send my computer back to Apple because they take forever and never even tell me what was WRONG in the first place so I can not do it again. I'd really like to know if there's a way to fix these application crashings and get that little time machine icon to go away.
I'm a college student and a mac noob, I use it to chat and draw with. Please help me, and be gentle.
