What is the Users/"yourusername"/Applications folder for?

You usually don't have an Applications folder in your home folder.

I've never seen one there...

i have one, but nothing in it

but the reason thats its there, imo, is for the user specific installed apps, instead of system-wide installed apps.

I have one too. Did it go with OS X 10.4?
As PoD said, it'd be for user specific apps.

I find it bizarre you guys don't have Applications folders in your home folder. Every Mac I've owned or used did.

It's because that way, a non-Administrative user can install his own apps in his own Applications folder, and only he'll have access to them.

Of course, most personal Mac users run as Admin, which means they can install apps in the normal Applications folder for all users.

I created a ~/Applications folder to hold all my third-party apps. Not only is it easier for me to find my installed apps, but it's also easier to backup my applications that way, too.

More than that, though, I rarely ever need to go digging around in my /Applications folder, so why not keep all the apps I do go looking for in one place away from the clutter that already exists within /Applcations :)

i think its created it non admin accounts as well, like a account with simple finder and application restrictions

You should have one as default.

Guys, check /System/Library/User Template/English.lproj. Do you have an Applications directory there?

This is the template which is copied when a new user is created.
