My kids have accidentally moved the entire applications folder into trash. That is the only place I can find Safari/iTunes etc. How do I get it back so that I can use Finder?
I've tried moving the Applications to Desktop or the tools bar at the bottom of the page, but nothing works. Some post said to move to HD, but that too does not work. Please help, we're new to the MAC world and this is a hand me down MAC.

The application folder needs to go to the root directory of the hard drive.

Double click the Hard Drive icon on the desktop. Click the Trash icon in the Dock (i think this is what you meant by this ->"tools bar at the bottom of the page").
You should now have two windows open like the picture below. Now just drag and drop the 'Applications' folder from the 'Trash' window across to the 'Hard Drive' window

That goes for anything you need to get out of the trash. Just drag it from the trash window to another folder. As mentioned before, the Apps folder needs to be in the Macintosh HD directory.
