Applications missing from under "Places"

i was trying to make a shortcut of my Applications folder onto my dock by pulling the Applications link located under Places to my dock next to my trash can. somehow the Applications link got deleted and is now missing from under Places...

how do i get it back??!

The side bar and dock don't hold your applications folder. They do act as shortcuts though. To get your Applications folder into your dock or sidebar (or both) just double click on your hard drive. You'll find the Applications folder there (along with Users, Library, and System). Drag that folder to the dock and/or the sidebar.
