Recently, my iPhone (and iTunes concurrently) has been shutting down the applications randomly (iPod, safari, mail).

I don't have any jailbreak software on the phone and have only been recently putting music on it.

Has anyone had this problem? Are there any solutions?

Random shutdowns mean that the application has crashed. I've had this happen occasionally as well, usually when listening to music and using Safari at the same time. You can try to reduce the crashing if it is becoming bothersome by restoring your iPhone's software and also hoping that stability continues to improve with the next release 2.0. Cheers.
