Ok, so I have a 990 Pro hooked up via Thunderbolt 3 on a 2019 iMac running Ventura 13.5, does anyone have any experience/recommendations on how or can you update the firmware on a Samsung drive when it's NOT installed as an internal drive? It is a startup drive just through Thunderbolt 3-4 ( speed is absolutely incredible, approx 2,400 writes and 2,700 reads). Everything I've read on Reddit forums or any forum for that matter says that it needs to be an internal drive. I figured if anyone has or knew it would be on the MacRumors forum!

I *think* Samsung's solution for Mac is the first dropdown in the link above

If I understand correctly, you're supposed to burn an ISO to a DVD or a USB and boot from it?

I tried that as well, (USB) but my Mac doesn't recognize it, thru Startup Disks as well as holding the option key at reboot.

What a pain. Good luck figuring it out.

I almost wonder if you're better off just grabbing a cheap Windows laptop for $50 from Free Geek or something. I actually keep an old ThinkPad running Windows laptop around for goofy firmware-y stuff like that.

Confusing as to why Samsung doesn't make Magician for Mac.

TBH that is something I'm looking into, $50 is probably worth the "investment".

Thanks, my Man!
