Found this cool app that lets you throttle your CPU as it relates to an App. That is, you can assign CPU usage to an app. Most will just run at 100%. Works well if you want to run a batch file over night (e.g. Handbrake) and don't want to run it at 100%.

I have never liked the way Handbrake runs at all or nothing.

Also you may want to run something at less CPU (e.g. Handbrake) so that say your VM is still running hard for example.

Only thing I have found is that the reduction in CPU does not get a similar reduction in temps if that is what you want this for. That is obvious I know and no surprise but it means you need to throttle the CPU by almost 50% (i.e. 400% on a Quad) to get say 10% reduction in temp. For that reason you really should't use this if you are only going to throttle 10 %. If that is the case then your temp is similar and the fan is still running hard. You'll see what I mean if you try it.

Why not use SMC Fan Control I hear you say. Because at max CPU your fan is running at 100% anyway.

Anyway, I am not debating its worthiness. Just letting you know it exists.
