A small but annoying detail of past OSX/macOS releases is that we didn't always get the latest OS included with the Internet Recovery, and would be stuck doing an entire OS upgrade after reinstalling the OS.
With High Sierra, and now Mojave updates bringing Internet Recovery updates with them, clean installs of the OS has become far less painful.
