Thought it could be cool to see what app developers are creating with the new iOS aesthetic.

My favorite weather app, Forecast Bar (which I thought was abandoned) has just released an updated version that uses it subtly and beautifully. A pleasure to look at.

I've been a user of Forecast Bar in the past as well but at some point I switched to Carrot Weather when I noticed that you can customize is a lot to make it great. On the AppRaven community I'm constantly adding apps to the 'Liquid Glass Apps' collection where I see Liquid Glass is supported by adding them to that collection (of another user). To be honest though I haven't made the switch as I'm not overwhelmed with the new UI (I'm still running iOS18.7).

I really don't understand though that developer can update their apps and that also iOS18 users see the new icon while it is possible for developers to retain the old icon for those users (although according to a Reddit user a bit hidden in the settings).

Most apps getting Liquid Glass updates are hardcore Apple ecosystem apps. Mainstream apps - WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram, Reddit, Discord etc don’t have anything yet.

I don’t want to even talk about google apps, which will probably never get updated for Liquid Glass.

Indeed that is rare for such big apps to offer any time soon. It was already a big step for Instagram to recently add iPad support (although not using the full screen so not what I expected at all).

Luckily some third party apps can work great for some of these mainstream apps and that do offer e.g. Liquid Glass support such as BusyCal (Google Calendar), Acorn (Reddit - in TestFlight), SwizzTube, KelTube (YouTube).
Sidenote: I did notice ChatGPT does already support it.

Since June 2025 Google Calendar is available on the Apple Watch though and they keep mentioning it in every update since, no Liquid Glass until 2030 :) I use Busycal already for ages that has Apple Watch (and Liquid Glass) support and works great with my Google Calendar.
