Ok, I'm not sure what to make of this.

It seems that apps (such as FCE, Safari or whatever) tend to 'crash' every now and then. And I get this same message from the OS (see picture).

Can someone explain to me what this means? Could it possibly be hardware related?

Bad RAM can cause everything to hang randomly.

Insert your OS X disc and hold D on boot to run a hardware test.
 
Thanks r.j.s. - I installed new RAM about 1 1/2 months ago and everything seemed peachy.

But I'll perform the hardware test again.

It may be just a few bad sectors that seem to be coming up more often now, causes the apps to hang.
