iPod touch Apps Can't Use iTunes Media?

I read somewhere that the App store applications can't use media (movies and music) stored on the Touch.

Does anyone know if this is true?



If it is true, that means that nobody can make an alarm for your iPod that can play songs as a wake up call (all the old iPods could) amongst a multitude of other possibilities.
