I'm currently running iOS 7.0.4 on an iPhone 4S, and one thing I notice with multitasking now is that when I switch apps, the chances of a refresh are much higher compared to iOS 6.

For example, I would be writing up a post in Tapatalk, but I would swap into a web browser to copy a couple lines from a page. When I return to Tapatalk, it then goes straight back to the front page.

Anyone know why this happens?

It's probably low memory so apps and Safari tabs will refresh.

General/about/Diagnostics & Usage/Diagnostics and Usage Data may give you an idea of why.

Apps constantly refresh after I switch around

Interesting - it has logged numerous crashes of select apps - 1password and appshopper (the old one that got pulled down). I wonder why...

I would also assume that iOS 7 in general takes a lot of memory, at least more than 6 did.

Yup, low memory.

Made my iPad 2 pretty useless for some things as I can't reliably switch between apps without losing data, like entered text, among other things.

Not really noticeable on my iPhone 5, it's a rare occurrence.

Bummer.

Well, I'm glad my phone is pretty much relegated to messaging at this point

According to my own tests, not significantly more. That is, the difference seems to be pretty negligable - at least on the iPad 3.
