I just updated my iPhone to iOS 18, and I’ve noticed that some apps keep crashing unexpectedly. It happens randomly, even with apps that were working fine before the update. I’ve tried restarting my phone, updating all apps, and even reinstalling a few, but the problem persists. Is this a known issue with iOS 18, and are there any fixes or workarounds?

When this happens, it's usually a bug with the app and the app developer needs to update it. It's rarely ever an issue with the OS itself. What are the apps? Have the ones that aren't working for you been updated recently by the developer? Or are they older apps that appear to have been abandoned?

I had one that would crash (don't recall which one it was), but the app developer pushed out a fix for that. My parents also have an app that crashes right away (Reverie Nightstand). The developer last updated that app over a year ago, so we don't anticipate them fixing the issue any time soon, if at all.

Have you checked how much free space you have left on your phone? That can definitely cause weird behavior.

This is happening to me as well since I updated to 18.3.2 the other day. I haven't given the situation an exhaustive look (I have over a hundred apps on my phone), but it's affecting a few that I use quite often including iXpenseit, AT&T, Ebay and my Chase banking app. I've restarted the phone, done a hard restart, checked for updates on the app store and even elected to see if the latest public beta would fit it. The apps just crash upon launch. A possible solution would be to delete the problem apps and reinstall them, but I can't do that with iXpenseit because it has around ten years of financial info that would be lost (I last backed that data up three months ago, so those months would be lost).

This is very frustrating— and made worse by the fact that it doesn't seem to be too widespread.
