Apps crashing with iOS 4?

One of my favorite app, Hundred Pushups, worked perfectly on my iPhone 3GS but after upgrade to iOS 4, it crashes and behaves bad in many different ways. I don't know if the app was badly programmed or if it has something to do with iOS 4 bugs but you would expect that old apps would work as before with iOS 4 but not taking advantage of the new features.

Are there any other reports of apps not working with iOS 4?

The app needs to be updated to support iOS 4.

I thought that private API's was not allowed by Apple.
