Apps for new rMPB

I got new rMPB 13 today and machine is really great. I just wanted to quickly ask what apps should I get. I`m journalist and student, so something for organizing time, to-do, email, social networks or just handy apps for daily use and usual stuff. It`s my first mac, so maybe something for better use of system....

OS X comes with apps for Reminders, Mail, web browsing and more. I recommend you familiarize yourself those first, then only look to 3rd party apps if you don't find what you need in the built-in apps.

the built in are all good but....

I love Skim for PDFs.

VLC for movie playback.

Transmission for torrents.
