So if I have an app (such as the one for my home alarm system) that also has a watch app... Do I just make sure the app is up to date or do I download something separately. Sorry for the silly question. My watch doesn't arrive until tomorrow but just wanted to make sure I'm ready;).

Make sure it is up to date, and if you do not have apps set to auto-sync, open your Apple Watch app, and sync it over. Additionally, some apps require watch configuration from the phone, so open the app there too and look around for settings.
