So I just purchased a used iPhone 2G, and it has a bunch of apps on it that I really would like to keep, but when I try to sync it with MY itunes, obviously it just gives me a prompt to clear everything.

Is there a way to transfer everything from the iphone to my Mac?

Probably not without hacking it, just like songs on a used iPod. Even though they're on that phone legitimately, they're not really "yours." There's probably some language in the license that says the actual app is in the iTunes library and then is copied to the iPhone.

Run your iTunes. Make sure it is authorized with the same account on your iPhone.

Plug your iPhone in, then select Transfer Purchases (right click)

Every purchased app (or music / video etc..) shall now be transferred.
