For two days already I can only update the apps on my phone but not in the App Store. When I press the button to update the app it stays pressed for a couple of seconds and then would just return to the previous "Update" state. High Sierra here, iTunes 12.6.

Any help would be appreciated.

Recently had this issue with iPad. Solution was to boot into DFU, do a Restore to factory. Pain, but it worked. I had several other issues before the reset, no OS updates, widgets "could not connect" and forced to go through activation each time I rebooted.

Prior to the factory reset, tried log out\in to iCloud account, reset network settings. Nothing helped till the factory reset.

Maybe a fresh install will cure it for your Mac? But first, maybe try creating a new user account and see if that solves the issues? If so, you know it is a user account corruption issue.

Hi The problem is the App store. Now, Apple will not let you download Apps from the App store to iTunes on your Mac from where you could update your devices if you were using the special version of iTunes. (12.6.5.3)

Check out the post here and check out the links on the last entry.

Thanks.
However I can't see any links.
Is there any way to circumvent it? Maybe to use an older version of iTunes? I mean, 12.6.5.3 was intentionally made for the purpose to download the apps. What's the point of having the App Store in this version of iTunes at all then?
