I'm not sure if this is what you want, but if you Subscribe to threads on this site, you can set it up so you receive email notifications if there is a new post on the thread.

Sorry if I misunderstood what you are looking for in the way of notifications.

There's no official app for Macrumors as far as I know. You can use the forum app, 'Tapatalk' and set up notifications for this site. Works pretty well.

Tapatalk 2 is great for this forum and has push for replies to threads you subscribe and private messages etc. highly recommend.
