For some reason I have to install some applications via MacPort, such like ImageMagick, however, I saw other applications(e.g. vi, vim, etc) also available via macport, there are already built-in programs like vi, if I install something via macport which are already built-in, will there be any problem or the newer ones just overwrite old ones?

Thanks a lot!

They install in a completely different path so no conflict or no overwriting of original ones both versions will be on the system.
