Has anyone who upgraded to the 14 Pro Max have issues with apps constantly reloading? It’s not all the time, but it’s much much more frequent than my previous phone.

I could switch from Firefox to Safari or even my calendar app and by the time I come back it will have to reload. It’s in different apps so it’s not just a Safari thing.

I came from 13 Pro Max on iOS 15 and didn’t have any issues. Apps would usually stay running in the background till I needed them. The only time apps would reload is if I didn’t use the app for a while, or was using the camera. I can’t imagine this is a hardware issue because the 14 has the same 6 GB of RAM but it’s supposed to be faster.

Mainly I’m asking because I’m thinking about factory resetting the phone and starting over again. I hate to do all that and then find out it’s just how iOS 16 is currently working 🤦‍♂️😂

Yep. This morning, I literally went from Starbucks to Uber and back to Starbucks, and the Starbucks app refreshed. It can't hold something in memory for two minutes?

Yes I get this problem constantly on an iPhone 14 ProMax. I notice it most with the Messages app as it returns to a list of the message threads rather than the specific thread I was in when I last visited. This did not happen with iOS 15 and earlier.

Hopefully a fix will come in the next update.

iOS 16 potentially not optimized for iPhone 14 Pro or its new RAM yet. I didn't really notice those kinds of things even on a device with only 4GB RAM.

I installed the iOS 16.2 public beta and the constant app reloading appears to be fixed. Official release isn’t until mid-December according to news sites.

Promising - will be interesting to see if it comes back over time. I usually don't have the issue right after a restart, making me think there is some memory leak issues possibly contributing to it.

March 2023, iOS 16.3, and this issue still persists. No matter how many apps there are in the background, almost every app reloads every single time I switch from one to the other, making me lose access to last marked location on maps, forms on safari, videos on youtube etc and is getting increasingly frustrating to use. Also, PinP videos freeze, frame disappears, and when you switch to the app, since it thinks that the video is still running in PinP, there is just a black screen. Has anyone been able to find a solution?
