Hello all... Not a mac user except just this week at work I guess I have a mac now, so I'm having a bit of a rough time moving over from Linux 100% of the time to this.

I'm running Yosemite & whenever I open up a different app, some preference window or even just select a different app on my other monitor, for some reason the main window on the other monitor will just disappear. looks like it slides off to the side...

Is there any way I can stop this?? Really aggravating & I can't seem to figure out why its doing this.

Any help is appreciated thanks.

There aren't very many settings there... Definitely nothing that talks about windows there.

So say I have a chrome window open... One with multiple tabs on each display. I then open up a terminal window... One of the chrome windows moves completely off the screen rather than appearing behind... And no amount of clicking on chrome from the dock will unminimize it. I can then right click and select show all windows. Screen goes blurry & I can see both chrome windows in a small selector at the bottom. Click it... then terminal shifts off to the side & chrome comes up & never shall the two meet. I can't figure out the theme to when & why it decides to do it sometimes & others it doesn't.

is this a mac that someone else in your workplace was using before you?

they've maybe set it up for multiple spaces (multiple virtual desktops assinged to each physical display) and assigned apps to particular ones?
