A bunch of my apps like Motion, Soundtrack Pro, DVD Studio Pro, and even iPhoto won't synch to their respective libraries anymore! I've put all of their extras, templates, contents on an external hdd at installation and for a while everything was going great. Now when I start any of these applications, they won't automatically connect to their designated libraries anymore. Motion won't load the filters and generators, Soundtrack Pro displays all its stock sound loops red, DVD Studio Pro's template fields would be empty, and iPhoto would display 0 pictures until I manually reattach their libraries through pref.
My external hdd which the libraries are installed on is obviously linked when starting these apps. The drive is a WD MyBook Pro 250gb, connected via FireWire 800. I've done projects on any of the FCS apps before with no problem. The apps were always able to detect their respective libraries. I don't know what's happening now.
For example, when Motion starts up, it gives me an error warning about the Contents and Templates library can't be found. I go to preferences but it's still link precisely to the correct path. "Volume/Archives I/Users/Shared/Motion" I click "reset" anyway. Then something surprising happens. The name of the external hdd changes from its appropriate name: "Archives I" to "Archives I 3." The program reseted the path, and it added that extra "3" to the name. Motion would now be able to perform with no problems after going through this little ritual.
Puzzled, I went to disk utility and looked up my external Archives I hdd. Surprised, I found out that the Mount Point is: /Volumes/ARCHIVES I 3
OS X or whatever is adding an extra "3" to the hdd name. Is this the reason these apps are having trouble accessing their libraries on this external hdd? Because they're used to linking to a hdd called "ARCHIVES I" but OS X is changing the mount point to "ARCHIVES I 3"?
