When my apps update, even after a restart, there are multiples of the same app in my right click pop up menu.

How do I get rid of this and more importantly... Why didn't it clear out on it's own?

If you're referring to duplicate entries in the "Open With" menu, you need to rebuild your launch services database by entering the following in Terminal:

/System/Library/Frameworks/CoreServices.framework/Versions/A/Frameworks/LaunchServices.framework/Versions/A/Support/lsregister -kill -r -domain local -domain system -domain user

So why doesn't it do this for me automagically?
